Role
Enable Morpho to build reliable, high‑performance backend services by owning critical data flows, APIs, and platform foundations that power user‑facing products.
Responsibilities
Design and operate TypeScript/Node services and GraphQL APIs to deliver reliable, low‑latency user experiences.
Model data and evolve PostgreSQL schemas to improve correctness, performance, and maintainability.
Drive cross‑team initiatives (e.g., performance, reliability, data quality) from problem framing to rollout and long‑term ownership.
Raise operational excellence by improving observability, incident response, and post‑incident learning.
Mentor and multiply teammates through thoughtful reviews, pairing, clear docs, and crisp async updates.
Collaborate with frontend, product, protocol, risk, and security to ship end‑to‑end outcomes.
Simplify systems by reducing complexity, paying down tech debt, and standardizing patterns.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 30 days
Understand the Consumer API, data flows, and deployment practices.
Ship a safe, user‑visible improvement to production.
Author a short architecture note to clarify a murky area and align stakeholders.
By month 4–6
Lead a cross‑team effort such as GraphQL performance or data correctness.
Land schema and storage improvements that reduce operational burden and improve reliability.
Sponsor at least one engineer through a significant design and delivery milestone.
By month 12
Become the go‑to owner for a critical backend domain with a clear multi‑quarter roadmap.
Consistently ship high‑impact features and resolve complex cross‑team problems with clear writing and steady execution.
Demonstrably raise the team’s bar on reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
Must-have Skills
Adaptability in a fast‑moving, remote‑first environment; adjusts quickly to shifting priorities and time zones.
Focus and simplicity; prioritizes essentials and ships clear solutions.
First‑principles thinking with a strong bias for action and ownership.
Low‑ego, team‑first collaboration; communicates transparently and shares credit.
Genuine crypto curiosity and continuous learning mindset.
Must‑have Experience
~8–10+ years building backend systems and APIs with TypeScript/Node, GraphQL, and relational databases (especially PostgreSQL).
Proven record leading cross‑team designs and shipping large, ambiguous projects.
Strength in data modeling, performance optimization, and production operations.
Excellent written communication and async collaboration across time zones.
Strong interest in the Web3 ecosystem and how users consume on‑chain data.
